Jaywalkers: Over the past three years, Jaywalkers (BBC Young Folk Award finalists 2009) have cemented their place as one of the most exciting, virtuosic and entertaining young bands working on the British folk scene. 2012 saw the eagerly awaited release of their 2nd album – Early for a Thursday – just in time for becoming #3 at the European World of Bluegrass and a summer of CD sell-out performances at over 35 festivals. Jaywalkers’ music heavily features Michael Giverin’s original compositions that draw on his experienced musicality and Northern heritage; taking inspiration from Lancashire dialect poems and quirky stories. Creating a unique sound based on their collective and individual musical backgrounds, the band takes influence from folk, bluegrass, country and western swing music in the form of virtuosic instrumentals, three part harmony and occasional slap bass. Add good humour, tasteful arrangements and exceptional musicianship to the mix and they are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
